My Current Morning Routine
Living a healthier life doesn't have to be rocket science. Often it's the small things that make the difference. It can be as simple as getting out of bed a bit earlier and dedicating just a small part of your day to yourself. For me personally, having a self-centred morning routine has done amazing things to my life and that's why I would love to share my daily morning routine with you guys:
6:30 AM Wake up & do coconut oil pulling while I do my facial morning routine with organic skin products.
6:35 AM If I still have time, I'll do some dry body brushing and lather my body in coconut oil afterwards. I like to really tune in on my body while doing this and be grateful and appreciative for being healthy, fit and strong. It's like a mini-meditation in itself.
6:45 AM Drink a hot lemon tea with cayenne pepper to get my digestion started & a glass of water with apple cider vinegar and a squeeze of agave nectar and a pinch of probiotics.
6:50 AM I'll either do 15 minutes of yoga or 15 minutes of journaling, depending on my mood. If I have more time, I also love to go for a run by the lake, I think it’s the best way to start the day!
7:10 AM Time for breakfast: My go-to meals are a green smoothie or a fruity breakfast bowl filled with super foods (I’m currently obsessed with acai). I also love to have a warming bowl of oatmeal in the colder winter months. If I’m in a hurry, I'll just grab my smoothie in a mason jar and will have it during my first hour of uni.
I have to put out a disclaimer at this point: My mornings don’t always look like this. There are days where I get up 5 minutes before I need to leave the house, or other’s where I am hectically running around the house remembering all the things I should have done the evening before. And you know what? That’s fine too.
Guilt is so counterproductive to wellness. When our bodies are telling us to rest, we should give it the rest that it’s craving. I think that it’s all about being gentle with yourself, listening to your body and responding with self – love rather than frustration if you don’t manage to stick to your morning routine all the time.
If you don’t have a routine yet, I suggest that you experiment with a couple of different things and see what works for you. It truly makes all the difference. When I do my morning routine, I am much more zen throughout the entire day. When I don’t, I wish I had and mostly have a deep craving to catch up on it as soon as I get home.
